S.A. Bodeen Interview Part 3
Part three of my interview with S.A. Bodeen, young adult author and winner of ALA's Young Adult Quick Picks for her book The Compound. Her other books include The Raft, The Garden, The Fallout and her new book, The Detour.
Questions:
1.)
Me: Do you outline your books or do you just write as it goes?
SB: I’ve done both, but mainly work from an outline.
2.)
Me: How do you deal with writer's block?
SB: I don’t believe in writer’s block. It’s more a matter of not knowing how to get from one part of a story to the next, and sometimes I work backwards to figure it
3.)
Me: Do you have anything that you are working on right now?
SB: Yes, some YA and some middle grade.
4.)
Me: Why do you write under a pen name?
SB: When they did the cover art for The Compound, they felt that my feminine first name might take away a bit of the sinister quotient, so we went with my initials instead.
5.)
Me: When you were a child what did you want to be?
SB: A writer and a teacher.
6.)
Me: What is the hardest part about writing for you?
SB: Just sitting down and doing it.
Rapid Fire!:
1.) Ebook or Real Book
2.) Pizza or Hamburger
3.) Netflix or Traditional TV
