Alexa is a fighter, a guard to the crowned prince, she could be captain of the guard, and shes the best fighter they have. Shes deadly with a bow, she could slice a hair with her sword in mid-air, and she has reflexes like a cat. But no one can know shes a girl. Forced to disguise herself as a guy to protect herself from the evil kings “breeding house”. But when the prince asks if he can trust her to deliver a message to the people who tried to kill him, she finds herself trapped in a love triangle along with Damian (the prince) and another guard and one of her only friends Rylan.
This was a great book. It brought me back to the wonderful world of The False Prince, which was and is one of my all time favorite books. The love triangle was a little annoying but if you enjoy romance you would love Defy. The added twist of sorcery made this book even better because it was new, it wasn’t like Harry Potter it was more like Lord Of The Rings, but not. But this book is definitely for an older audience because of some mature themes.
I would recommend this book to...
- Someone who is in 8th grade or older
- Any girl who likes Romance
- Any guy or girl who enjoyed The False Prince
