Derpy's Days Of Giving 2013 Day 5

Hey didn't I tell you yesterday to be at the same place at the same time and you find something? Well yep, I wasn't lying! lets get into the interview.
Question #14

Derpy: What is your least favorite part of the writing process?

Gard: That it’s slow. It really does take months and months to get a project to a good level.

Question #15

Derpy: How long did it take for you to write Game Slaves and how long of the time was the editing period?

Gard: I wrote it in about four months. Got an agent in about a day. He flaked out and left agenting, got another one in less than a week, and about four months later it sold at auction. Editing took another year.

Question #16

Derpy: Why should people read Game Slaves?

Gard: Well, because it’s fun. And it’s a way to connect the huge world of video gamers and the huge world of readers.

Question #17

Derpy: What would you say to some adults and kids that are trying to make it as a big time author?

Gard: Most of all, don’t just shoot for a novel. There’s so much pleasure found in writing magazine stories or blogs or newspaper columns. Have fun and along the way, you earn your credits, and then they pay off later.

Question #18
Derpy: Which writers do you look up to?

Gard: Hundreds of them. I think J.K. Rowling is awesome, Potter or not, she’s got the spark. One of my all time favorites is Edgar Rice Burroughs. Margaret Atwood is brilliant. Neil Gaiman has serious game. Another is Douglas Adams. Kurt Vonnegut. Isaac Asimov was smarter than all of us put together.
Why don't you try what you did yesterday and meet back here tomorrow again, and just maybe it will pay out...
