Nick doesn't want you to know who he is, he doesn't want you to remember him when he is gone, and he certainly doesn't want you to start asking questions about where he came from and why he is here. Nick and his family are protected by WitSec or Witness Security a government run program to protect witnesses and their families from whom they provide statements against. Nicks dad is the witness, they have been forced to move around the country to find some place to fit in. Nick is hoping Stepton is that place. He tries to fit in, but trouble sets in, when his new found friend Eli is murdered, Nick begins on a journey along with Eli’s sister Reya to find out who really killed him and the secret of Stepton.

Fake ID was a good book. Maybe its just because the copy I got was an uncorrected proof, but I didn't find out that Nick had black skin until I got to the very middle of the book, when it ended up being a little but important detail.
